Wrinkles and noticeable lines are a natural part of ageing, but that doesn’t mean we have to live with them. Wrinkles can be ‘static’ – caused by the gradual loss of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, or ‘dynamic’ – created by repeated facial muscle movements, such as laughing and frowning. If you are self-conscious of wrinkles, you can benefit from non-surgical facial aesthetic treatments that help turn back the clock. They will eliminate these lines and plump up areas of lost elasticity.
Why have facial aesthetics?

- Appearance enhancing
- Confidence boosting
- Quick, simple procedure

Why should I see a dentist to have facial aesthetics?
Our experienced and qualified clinicians are the best choice as you can rest assured that you will be in safe hands. Dentists carry out precise injections on a daily basis. You’ll also receive the best service in regards to proper practice and cleanliness. We understand the value in making sure that the practitioner carrying out the treatment is qualified to do so.
Dynamic wrinkles can be treated using anti-wrinkle injections, such as Botox. The treatment affects the muscles that cause the skin to crease, relaxing them so the lines aren’t as prominent. We can use this to treat:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines
- Vertical lip lines
- Crow’s feet
Treatment takes around 10-15 minutes and effects will show in a couple of days. The number of injections will depend on the area being treated and, as these are precisely targeted, they produce natural looking results. There is also no need to take any time out to recover after the procedure.
Dermal fillers can enhance skin by smoothing lines and plumping up areas of lost elasticity. They can be used to achieve a variety of rejuvenating results including:
- Contouring the cheeks and chin
- Filling deep lines, such as those that run from the nose to the mouth
- Correcting acne or chicken pox scars
- Restoring a youthful fullness and definition to lips
A numbing cream is applied to minimise any discomfort and tiny amounts of the safe, gel-like filler are injected with an ultra-fine needle into the areas requiring treatment. There is no need for a recovery period and results are instant, lasting for several months.
A ‘gummy smile’ is the prominence of gum tissue when smiling. This can be a source of embarrassment for some people and they can often avoid smiling in photographs as they are unable to fully close their mouth or they feel very self-conscious.
Factors leading to this include:-
- A short upper lip
- Elevation of the upper lip due to a hyperactive muscle
- Gums that are enlarged or long (gingival hypertrophy)
- Teeth that may appear short and remain partially covered by gum tissue
- The appearance of the gums ‘bulging out’ due to an overgrowth of the upper jaw (vertical maxillary excess)
A small amount of anti wrinkle product can be injected into the top half of the muscle, to reduce the muscle activity and allow a delicate drop in the top lip. To provide some balance, patients additionally have lip filler in order to prevent the lips sliding above the teeth.
Procedure time (including consultation): 30 mins
On set of results: 2 weeks
Risks & Complications: Possible mild injection site swelling & bruising
Anaesthetic: Optional (not usually required)
Duration of results: 3-4 months
As with all non-surgical treatments, the effects will gradually wear off over time but you can maintain your smoother, plumper skin with top-up treatments. Regular use of anti-wrinkle injections can make results last longer, so top-up injections will be less frequent.
